What feels like “it didn’t stick” is often this:
People never had to use it in a way that matched real conditions.
They recognized the right answer.
But they never had to produce it themselves—under pressure, without prompts.
So when the moment comes:
They don’t recall a step.

- When would someone actually need to use this on the job?
- What makes that moment difficult (time, pressure, ambiguity)?
- Did the training reflect those conditions—or simplify them?
- Did people have to make decisions themselves, or just follow along?
- What happens if they get it wrong in real work?
If those conditions weren’t part of the training, it’s not surprising that it doesn’t hold.
Training doesn’t stick because it was never designed to.
It was designed to be understood—not to be used.
