How to Utilize These Models for English Language Learning

It also focuses on determining what students already know before introducing new material in order to ensure successful learning outcomes. Kemp’s Model is a non-linear approach which uses experimental methods such as trial-and-error in order to determine what works best when creating instruction. Finally, Merrill’s First Principles of Instruction focus on identifying the essential elements necessary for effective instruction such as meaningfulness, active processing and feedback from instructors or peers. Each type of instructional design model has advantages depending upon the context in which it will be used but all share similar goals: creating engaging learning experiences that result in improved student performance outcomes.
